The 13 Lords of Chaos and their master Drakath

The Lords of Chaos are a group of individuals chosen by Drakath with, apparently, the sole purpose of creating or releasing a Chaos Beast while bringing Chaos to the world in the process. There are a total of thirteen Chaos Lords, twelve of which were battled. The 13th Chaos Lord was recently revealed to be the Hero himself/herself. Extra, additional (and possibly non-canon) Chaos Lords appeared during the progression of the Queen of Monsters: Ancient Evils storyline, starting with Beleen.

Before any of them existed, thirteen heroes saved Lore long ago by defeating members of the Queen's Army, obtaining the Elemental Orbs, and sealing the Queen of Monsters away with their powers. All of those thirteen heroes bear heavy resemblance to the Chaos Lords, and even share the same name.

Chaos Lords

  • The First Lord of Chaos, the battlemage Escherion.
  • The Second Lord of Chaos, the merged twins Xiang.
  • The Third Lord of Chaos, Chaos Dragonlord Vath.

Battle Location

Notes

  • Each Chaos Lord summons a Chaos Beast.
  • It was originally thought that Discordia was the sixth Lord of Chaos, however he was being controlled by Kimberly who was the real Chaos Lord that was being controled by Drakath.
  • The Chaos Lords, so far up to Ledgermayne, have a mirror counterpart in the form of the Lords of Order. (Oddly, Kimberly's mirror counterpart looks exactly the same as the Kimberly in the main universe). Lionfang, the Hero and Alteon also have counterparts, although Alteon's is not a Lord of Order and it's unknown wether the other two are either.
  • The only known female Chaos Lords are Xing and Xang/Xiang, Kimberly, Khasaanda, the Female Hero, and Beleen. Ledgermayne could also be considered female as well due to its feminine appearance, but it is actually genderless.
  • Neither Ledgermayne, Khasaanda, Iadoa, Maximillian Lionfang or The Hero were loyal to Drakath. Beleen didn't become a Chaos Lord until many releases within the following months after Drakath's defeat.
  • The Master, a villain in the Skyguard saga who is later revealed to be Stratos' brother Exos, wants to become a Chaos Lord by using the Skyguard to create enough havoc to become so. He even creates his own Chaos Beast Attempt in an effort to raise a Chaos Beast (which fails, of course).
  • Both Iadoa and Maximillian Lionfang previously appeared in different seasonal/exclusive events before being introduced as Chaos Lords (The 2012 New Year's event for Iadoa, and the Lionfang War during AQW's first birthday as well as the 2010 Frostval event for Lionfang). Alteon appeared multiple times as well during the whole of the chaos saga.
  • Kimberly is the only Chaos Lord not to look Chaorrupted (at least, not until her chaotic side is encountered in the Chaos Realm). This is due to copyright in real life.
  • The 13th Chaos Lord was chosen to be the player.
  • Maximillian Lionfang, King Alteon and the Good Hero are the only Chaos Lords affiliated with Swordhaven.
  • Khasaanda is the only Chaos Lord not to summon her Chaos Beast. Khasaanda did not create the Naga Baas; the Baas was actually created by her brother, Krellenos. Khasaanda absorbed Krellenos' chaotic powers and usurped him after the Naga Baas was defeated.

Description

The 1st Chaos Lord sent by Drakath. He is a a tribute to M. C. Escher. and his artwork. Escherion is a battle mage with the power of inversion. The town of Mobius, the forest of Faerie, the ruins of Cornelis, and his own upside-down tower are based off of the unique, disorienting drawings of Escher, and are caused in-game by Escherion's Staff of Inversion. This staff was given to Escherion by Drakath, to aid the chaos lord in his goal of summoning the first chaos beast. To do so Escherion had to find and unite the 3 pieces of the runix cube, which would awaken the chaos beast once i was placed on its pedestal. The first piece of the runix cube was located on the town of Mobius, the second piece was held by the faeries in the forest and the last piece was in the ruins of cornelis. Ironically, it was the player who delivered the runix cube to escherion after mistakingly believing that the cube would stop the mages plans. Escherion eventually unlocked his Chaos Beast but it was quickly dipatched by the hero by making Escherion's inverted tower fall on top of it. The hero then proceeded to fight Escherion and defeated him. In a last attempt to strike the player, Escherion tried to invert the hero but the attack was reflected by a magic mirror the hero found on Cornelis. The spell was cast on Escherion and it made all of the spells Escherion casted fall on himself, acidentally turning himself into a frog.

Description

The Third Lord of Chaos is Vath, a Chaotic Elf Dragonlord who forcibly united the Drow clans in order to invade Dwarfhold and enslave the dwarfs. His dragon was Stalagbite, a powerful chaorrupted dragon who was only under his control because he possessed the Legendary sword of dragon control and a chaorrupted dragon amulet. Unlike other dragonlords, Vath didn't treat his dragon as a friend or colleague, not even a pet. He only thought of him as a weapon. This way of treating him backfired on him when the hero, after freeing the dwarfs and defeating the Chaos Beast, destroyed the legendary sword of dragon control and the dragon amulet, freeing Stalagbite. The Dragon was so angry with Vath that he grabbed the chaos lord and flew away with him, leaving the destiny of the drow a mystery.

Yokai Island

Description

At first, he was one of the loyal guards of Emperor Daishyo of Yokai Island. He was part of divine protection from outsiders including Chaos. According to Hashi Hime telling to the hero, he and Daishyo worked as brothers and partners to help ensure a safe haven for living creatures. When he found out that the emperor was decided to extend the Island's hospitality to the outsiders (people from BattleOn), he got furious and did not share the same compassion towards outsiders and he made the plans to curse the emperor. Kitsune vowed to do everything in his power to restore Yokai Island back to its secluded sancturary. He became the Chaos lord by Drakath. Then he wears his chaos shogun armor. Drakath convinced Kitsune that the only way to "restore" the Yokai Island would be the release of great Yokai forbidden beast, O-dokuro, from the Rift of Time. The release of O-dokuro would made the emperor bow to Kitsune once more. He puts a curse on the emperor so Ai No Miko decided to start the Dragon Koi Tournament in hopes of finding the hero who could help in the crisis.
After the Dragon Koi Tournament, he steals the prized Hanzamune Dragon Koi Blade, created a thousand years ago made by Hanzamune (NOTE; Hazamune is a reference it a super nintendo game which has a powerful plot related sword named -Masamune-, created by masa and mune), from Princess Ai No Miko.
He uses the sword to call forth the Chaos Beast O-dokuro by opening the Rift of Time. Yokai kept on pouring through the rift, and the hero was able to close it after getting the Hanzamune Blade, which Kitsune carelessly tossed aside. After that, Kitsune regained the blade, chaorupting it in the process, and then was defeated by the hero. After Kitsune and the hero dueled, Kitsune used his strength to make himself invisible. After the hero slashes blindly, the hero accidently opens the Rift of Time. Kitsune, who was about to run into the rift opening, was unable to stop in time, and was sucked into the rift to the Yokai World. The hero then closed the rift, sealing Kitsune inside. The emperor's spell was lifted, and the hero then defeated Ryoku before becoming the winner on the Dragon Koi Tournament. The Island of Yokai was then peacefull once again.

At the beginning of the Mythsong story the hero and everybody else at the city believed the real Chaos Lord was Discordia, but he really was a proxy used by Kimberly so she was free to make her plans without the annoyance of the hero. Once the hero defeats Discordia, it is revealed that he fell under Kimberly's control when he heard her singing. After the hero defeats the chaos beast and Kimberly, the song that Drakath sang got unstuck from her so she got free from his control.

The seventh Lord of Chaos, Ledgermayne was originally just a mass of mana floating in the ether before Drakath's Chaos magic corrupted it, transforming it into what it is today. Ledgermayne proceeded to prevent the players from entering the Para-Elemental Plane of Magic, where it was at its strongest, and then closed the portal leading to the plane of magic. Although as it turns out this was against Drakath's wishes. The fact that the players had to save the Cloister from its henchmen served as a distraction from its and Drakath's plan to prepare the Mana Golem. Ledgermayne later turned against Drakath, after realizing his overconfidence, which brought it to the decision to take matters into its own hands and attempt to prevent the players from completing the Supreme Arcane Staff.

Description

The eighth Lord of Chaos. Tibicenas is a chaorrupted Djinn who lives in the Djinn world and acts as a servant to the mage of the sands, Zahart, who can summon him with a chaorrupted magic ring. He supports Zahart in his quest to find something in the Sandsea that might help him become its ruler. Tibicenas was even responsible for the unnatural sandstorm that uncovered the ancient city in the Sandsea that the oasis community is just part of. In order to combat Tibicenas, the heroes and Zhoom had to find the mummy king Sek Duat: God-King of the Sandsea who might know what they needed to know in order to do just that. Indeed, Sek Duat knew how to do battle with Tibicenas himself: the only way to defeat him was with another Djinn, thus meaning that the heroes and Zhoom had to find their own Djinn to use against him!
It is according to fellow Djinn Saahir, a Marid (benevolent Djinn), that Tibicenas was once a regular Ghul (malevolent Djinn) until he meddled with Chaos, causing the ruler of the Djinn, the Efreet, to cast him out of the Djinn world. Tibicenas is secretly waiting for the right moment for the ring to be destroyed so that he can be free to return to the Djinn world to conquer that and then come back to conquer Lore itself.

After the players defeated the Unending Avatar, Iadoa arrives and shows the players the day when Galanoth slew the Dragon of Time which resulted in the realities of AdventureQuest, DragonFable, and MechQuest to merge into the player's reality. Iadoa states that the combination of the three realities caused everyone to be reborn including Drakath and his Master. Iadoa then proceeds to lead the players into the details of their destiny.

Thunderforge (Mountain Ranges)

Description

Maximilian Lionfang and his younger brother Xavier were raised by their father, Darius who served for many years as a knight under King Slugwrath before joining General Alteon's rebellion and becoming a key player in the overthrow of the tyrannical king. Darius raised his boys to believe that you should stand up to evil wherever you meet it, but his guilt over his actions while serving under Slugwrath drove these teachings to extremes.
In the early years of King Alteon's reign Maximilian and Xavier both signed up as recruits under the good king but Maximilian rose quickly through the ranks by making a name for himself as someone who could get things done. Darius Lionfang was slain in a battle with the archlich Noxus in one of the first clashes between King Alteon's forces and those of the DoomKnight Sepulchure.
Xavier left the military to seek revenge for their father's death but Maximilian remained a loyal soldier thinking that the far-reaching hand of his majesty's army would prove a better tool in the battle against evil. His charisma and steadfast adherence to the cause of good earned Maximilian a General's banner and a fearsome loyalty from those who served under him but some of his soldiers whispered that he could take things too far. However, most knew how his father had died and thus turned a blind eye to his all-consuming hatred of Evil.
Maximilian eventually became one of Good King Alteon's most trusted generals. When Drakath attacked and Sepulchure was destroyed, Lore saw that a new, powerful threat had arisen that could not be defeated by the forces of good or evil alone and the Great Truce between Good and Evil was formed. General Lionfang was charged with finding out all that he could about the nature of Chaos on Lore. For years he and his troops scoured the land searching for clues and finally building Lion's Keep on the edge of Thunderforge, a dark and mysterious land north of Skullholme populated by numerous creatures who serve Empress Gravelyn. There, he heard rumors about a scroll located in Blackhorn Tomb that had information of a weapon that could destroy chaos. With the help of the hero, Lionfang eventually found the scroll and decided that there was no need for a truce between good and evil anymore. He also decided to create his own army of good soldiers (the Golden Onslaught) after he concluded Alteon's decision of allying with evil was the decision of someone who was sick in his mind because of the chaorruption.
Soon after, Lionfang kidnaped all the good heroes of Lore and locked them in the onslaught tower (a tower built on the remains of a necromancer tower) with the purpose of making them see things his way and convince them there was no place for a truce between good and evil. The hero, Gravelyn and her undead army managed to get in the tower and rescue the heroes, but Lionfang prefered to jump out of the window rather than accept the truce. At the bottom of the tower the Twins were waiting for him, convincing him there was no place for evil in the world and chaorrupting him. After that he was taken to Drakath where he accepted to become a Chaos Lord but only to destroy Evil and, after that, Drakath himself.
A few months of training later, Lionfang had become the powerful Chaos Lord Drakath promised him he would be. Maximillian then led his force of chaorrupted onslaught soldiers to the city of Falguard, a city that unified all of the darkblood factions together under the rule of one primarch. There, he was able to extract the location of the weapon that could destroy chaos from the head of the primarch. The primarch got chaorrupted in the process and was commanded by Lionfang to kill the hero. The hero eventually defeated the primarch and in his last words he told the hero the location of the tears of the mother (the weapon against chaos Lionfang was looking for) but he also warned the hero that the tears could only be used once to cure chaoruuption, and they would be useless against Drakath for he had become chaos itself (and, as stated by the primarch, you can't remove darkness from the night). This were the last tears shed by the goddess of the darkblood, the Mother of all Monsters, while she was still human. He also gives his position as leader of Falguard to Madra, commander of the Falguard Dreadwatch (the defence force of the city) and after that he got turned into stone, finally dying because of his chaorruption. Madra, now leader of Falguard, told the hero to retrieve the tears and use them as he wished. She said that the darkblood weren't interested in the war against chaos because they had the tears to protect, but now that Lionfang had drawn them into the war, they no longer cared abhout them, she just wanted to make sure Lionfang didn't succeed in his plans.
The hero then went to the death pits were he was hoping to find the tears before Lionfang. There he was greated by the ghost of Logash, a darkblood who promised to watch the pits but was killed by Lionfang. Logash helped the hero to safely get to the bottom of the pits, but it was too late and he was unable to stop Lionfang from taking the tears and banishing in the last minute. Right after that, the ghost of Logash materialized in front of the hero. The hero quickly apologized to Logash for he had failed to retrieve the tears and now Logash was destined to be trapped forever in the pits, as the promise Logash had made in life (to protect the tears, no matter the cost) that was tying the darkblood to this world was never going to be fullfilled. Afterwards, Logash pointed the hero to a rock, which was revealed to be the location of the real tears of the mother, what Lionfang had taken was just a decoy. With the relic in his hands the hero needed some time to decide what he was going to do with them.
A short time after the hero met with King Alteon, having decided that Alteon was to important for the truce to lose and the tears would be best spent on him. Alteon told the hero to use the tears on Lionfang to strip him of his powers and save all the people he threatened. He then proceeded to tell the hero that one of his knights, Sir Valence, had been tasked with tracking Lionfang and he had found his new base in the venom vaults (the reamins of the castle that once belonged to a mad prince who held manticores as pets). The king commanded the hero to meet his knight outside the venom vaults, which the hero obeyed. In the gates of the venom vaults the hero met with the highly elusive Sir Valence, who told the hero how Lionfang had chosen the venom vaults because the chaos powers had shaped Lionfang's riding lion into a huge chaotic manticore. He also told the hero Lionfang was training his manticore to hunt down the remaining darkblood and Gravelyn's forces down from the air, so taking down this chaos beast was their primary concern. To do so, the hero and Valence had to create a potion of cleansing that was able to counteract the manticore's venom. This potion was then poured into the castle's water supply so that the hero could easily bath in the waterfall near the chaos manticore to get rid of its venom. The hero then proceeded to defeat the chaos beast, but was found by Lionfang, who started choking the hero with a chaotic tentacle. Sire Valence then proceeded to shoot this chaotic tentacle with an arrow which made Lionfang drop the hero. The hero then threw the bottle with the tears of the mother to Lionfang, who caught it in his hand. Valence then shot an arrow to the vial, hoping it would shetter and cure Lionfang of the chaorruption. Lionfang was capable of stopping the arrow mid-air with his chaos powers and he saw in the hero's mind that the vial that was thrown to him contained the true tears of the mother. REalizing that if the hero had not given him the true tears Drakath would have killed him, Lionfang temporarily spared the hero's life and, after saying his last goodbye to his lion, he disappeared to confront Drakath. It is then revealed that the hero had placed a tracking rune on the vial containing the tears of the mother which would allow him to follow Lionfang to finally take the chaos lord down.

After battling all the way to the top of Mount Doomskull, the hero of Battleon at last confronted Drakath and, enraged at him for all the pain and suffering that Chaos has caused to everyone up to that point, tried to make him pay for what he had done. Unfortunately, Drakath was too powerful, and was about to deal the final blow and murder the hero, only for him/her to remind Drakath that he promised to reveal the identity of the 13th Lord of Chaos. Drakath agreed, and chose the hero as the 13th Lord of Chaos, transforming him/her into one out of the 13th Lord's four choosable classes (Warrior, Mage, Rogue, and Healer). The hero would then cause chaos from that point until the time that the thirteenth chaso lord would unleash the 13th Beast of Chaos.
